The Harry Potter movie has nearly everybody talking! Ever since it was announced to the public that there was actually going to be a movie of J.K. Rowling’s first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the rumors have been flying as furiously as firebolts! These rumors include which actors and actresses are part of the cast, how much money was spent on the movie, and what kinds of special effects were included to make the movie more interesting.

In truth, the movie most likely cost somewhere in the range of $150 million, and some of the cast includes: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, Robbie Coltran as Hagrid, Richard Harris as Professor Dumbledore, Maggie Smith as Professor Magonagal, and Alan Rickman as Professor Snape.

J.K. Rowling was most concerned with authenticity when the prospect of turning her first book into a movie was introduced to her. “I’m not against the idea of a film,” said Rowling. “The vital thing for me was that it would be true to the book.”

Some other people have been thinking along the same lines it seems. “My mom read all four of the books to me and I loved them. I can’t wait to see the movie!” says Eve D. “I’m so excited about the Harry Potter movie and I really want to see it. I think that the book was absolutely splendid!” says Kristin N.

This reporter doesn’t think that the movie will ever be able to compete with the books because the books are just so creative and wonderful! How could anybody transfer the sort of magical events and terrific happenings that J.K. Rowling writes about, to the movie screen?

For those of you who haven't already seen the movie, visit www.harrypotter.com for more information. This movie is a BIG hit!
