Do you like Charlie Brown? Everyone does! Well, he is now retired. The whole Peanuts gang is retired! Charles Schultz, the Peanuts’ creator, was 77, and he was very sick with colon cancer. We are now sorry to say that he died on February 12, 2000. He died in his sleep. We are all very sad.

Schultz was born on November 26, 1922, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He had been writing these comics since October 2, 1950. Peanuts comics have been in newspapers since 1952. There are not only comics, but there was a T.V. series, many different types of merchandise, and also a couple of movies. The Peanuts gang consists of Lucy, Linus, Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Marcie, Peppermint Patty, Sally, Woodstock, and Pig Pen. This reporter loves the Peanuts gang and she is sorry to see them go.

No one can keep Peanuts going. Schultz and his family have said that they are retiring for good. People have been trying to find all their Peanuts merchandise since it is worth a lot of money since Charles Schultz died. Now all of his merchandise is selling like crazy since there will be no more. We will all continue to enjoy Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang though, won’t we?
